The first star party of the season arrives. TAAS members bring scopes and knowledge of the the sky to guide the experience.
Saturday, May 12th
Welcome to our first Oak Flat Public Star Party of the summer series, always highly anticipated and well attended! As ever, remember that sunset will be the seasonal usual--late, at 7:56--but arrive long before that time to park and be oriented to the layout of our event. and we hope to have some solar observing. TAAS members will be at the scopes to be your sky guides for the evening and talk with you about the sights you will see!
Parking will be at the Juniper lot and along the road leading to the Yucca lot (Yucca has the restrooms)--our telescopes will be set up in the Yucca parking lot, as fire restrictions will be in effect, and there is no access to the observing field for our scope vehicles. We will have many red pathway lights to guide your way.
Please bring only red lights for the viewing area to prevent loss of night vision (you can rubber band red cellophane over your regular flashlights and remove to find way back to car). Don't forget a jacket for chill of the evening and water.
