A comedic play set in '50s Buffalo, N.Y., about two struggling actors with grandiose dreams.

The Adobe Theater is proud to announce its next production, Moon Over Buffalo by playwright Ken Ludwig.

Ludwig has had a string of sure-fire comedic hits on Broadway, including the Tony winning Lend Me a Tenor. Audiences loved the 2015 Adobe Theater production of The Game’s Afoot, also by Ludwig.

With the same farcical action and fast-paced dialog Moon Over Buffalo, set in the 1950s, finds fading traveling actors George and Charlotte Hay performing Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives in a repertory theatre in Buffalo. Charlotte has grandiose dreams of becoming a Hollywood film star; George, on the other hand, is a quite satisfied stage actor who sees live theater as superior to film. The famous director Frank Capra plans to see one of their shows to consider them for his next film, but Charlotte has just learned George had a one-night stand with one of their actors.…

Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf, old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body.

Director Lewis Hauser says “In MOON OVER BUFFALO, author Ken Ludwig has written a wonderful throwback to the great screwball comedies of yesteryear, with a touch of The Marx Brothers thrown in. We will have just as much fun rehearsing it, as the audience will have watching it.”

Hauser has attracted a top-notch cast from among Albuquerque’s favorite actors, with Carolyn Hogan as Charlotte and John Wylie as George, with Abriana LaValley, Timothy Kupjack, Daniel Anaya, Erick Zepeda, Edward Heim, and Alaina Warren Zachary rounding out the cast.
