This exhibition brings the barely perceptible into focus as the artwork addresses the viewer’s physical impact on gallery environment. Runs through 6/29.

Think of the materials that make up the walls of this room, concrete and plaster. Now think of them in their liquid state: the concrete as it was poured and the plaster as it was mixed. They are fluid things that became solidified into a box. Solid for now and eventually worn down or pulverized into dust. This room, the gallery, this building, is temporary.

Liquid State takes on this ephemerality as a subject. It operates on the knowledge that all structures and the boundaries they create, both concrete and perceived, are temporary.  Bringing the barely perceptible into focus, the artwork addresses the viewer’s physical impact on gallery environment. It reveals the architecture’s porousness and fragility and reminds viewer that this building, like any other structure, is ultimately unstable. Things that are built eventually collapse and the viewer is an agent in their destabilization.
