Olivia Carril brings her experience with native bees to a pollinator walk and talk. Discover the incredible diversity of bees found in N.M. and the many species inhabiting the garden.

Olivia Carril has been studying bees for more than 20 years and will bring her experience with native bees to the Botanic Garden through a pollinator walk and talk. Discover the incredible diversity of bees found in New Mexico, and the many species inhabiting the Botanic Garden. In the classroom, she will highlight the life histories and plant preferences of New Mexico's most common wild bees including how to recognize those that live right in Albuquerque and where to go to get help with identification. She will discuss the status of wild bees and what we can do to best help them. In the field, participants will learn how to see bees on flowers, how to use an insect net to capture bees, and how to best photograph them.
