Zoo Music: Lisa Loeb

A Firecracker Near Summer's End

The penultimate issue of this year's Zoo Music Series features American fourth wave singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb. Let's just say that the mere presence of her work within the canon of the latter-day female folk rock phenomenon that inspired and informed Lilith Fair is cause enough to visit the zoo for a concert where she stars. With crafty, pure alt.pop hits like “Stay (I missed You)” and “I Do” in her repertoire, Loeb rose to prominence. Loeb's evolution includes considerable output in the field of children's music, by the way. Find out for yourselves, rockers, on Friday, August 3 at 7pm when the beatifically bespectacled, velvet voiced queen of quirky hooks performs live under the bandstand near the tigers' cage. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome. Food, beer and wine are available for purchase. Most zoo exhibits are open until 8pm. Adult admission is $12; seniors and children 3 to 12 pay but $6; children 2 and younger are free. New Mexico BioPark Society members pay half-price. (August March)
