Becoming a J.U.N.K. (Joy in Uncovering New Knowledge) Play Advocate means facilitating community play workshops at the Wemagination Resource Center and other sites in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties. It means helping others find the “play” within them. It also means leading educators towards a more holistic approach towards young children’s learning.
Volunteer Play Advocates are needed to co-facilitate play workshops as professional development trainers.
Qualifications required:
An interest in early childhood and adult education. Some understanding of how children learn through play.
You don't need any special skills; we provide a good amount of training in the areas we need you to have knowledge about.
You are invited to attend an information session at:
Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 5:15pm-6:00pm at the
Wemagination Resource Center
4010 Copper NE
Alb., NM 87108
Volunteering is a personal decision and people may prefer to talk to others about it. You will have the opportunity to do this and discuss how you want to benefit from volunteering. Finding out more about being a Play Advocate is a good start to finding an opportunity that's right for you.
Please contact Paige Abrams if you are interested in attending. We would love to meet you! paige@unm.edu or (505) 277-8515.
