Land of Enchantment Blues Festival

Blues, More Blues and Then Some More Blues

Courtesy of the artist
The Land of Enchantment Blues Festival, cosponsored this year by usual suspects the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and new comers UltraHealth, happens on Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon to 6:30pm and Sunday, Sept. 30 from 1 to 6:30pm at Loretto Park in Bernalillo, N.M. This singular digression into the blues, once held up in Madrid, moved to the more arcadian location northwest of Burque and along the river a couple of years ago, where it has been successfully growing, spouting cyan, cobalt and Prussian blue vibes ever since. This year's two-day festival features performances by both local and national acts of renown, including John Németh, Mem Shannon, The Blues Revue Band, Billy D & the HooDoos, Joanna Conner, Hillary Smith's Chill House, The Plateros and, get this, a two hour New Mexico all-star blues jam! A two-day pass to this all-ages festival costs between $30 and $40; one day admission ranges from $15 to $20. Get blue and believe in the power, brothers and sisters; this fest is the most for folks with such groovy inclinations, dig? (August March)
