Painter Uses Speed as Tool for Art
Remember Bob Ross? He painted those quaint, detailed landscapes in his allotted 30 minutes every week for years. Think that was fast? Hold on to your palettes. Speed Painter Tim Decker is about to blow some damn socks off. Hitting The Stage at Santa Ana Star on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7pm, he gives a commanding performance blending music, humor, audience interaction and his two-handed painting technique to create giant portraits of icons in four to seven minutes. Ahem, we said four to seven minutes! This dude performs this sorcery an average of 120 times per year. His popularity took off quickly beginning in 2009, after he had a dream about speed painting on a boardwalk. Like, he had a dream that he had talent and then all of a sudden he had talent. Insane. Check him out for just $10, but only with a valid 21+ ID. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)
