Hard Times and Liquid Assets
See colorful timepieces and poured acrylic paints on canvas from September's artists Phil Green and Sally Rugala.
Amapola Gallery will be hosting our Sept. featured artists reception on Friday, September 7, from 4-7 p.m. Our featured artists for the month will be Phil Green and Sally Rugala.
Phil crafts Raku timepieces for both desks and walls in various sizes with myriad shapes including sunflowers, balloons, and bird houses. Of special interest is the way he pushes the use of color. His skill and knowledge of the process, combined with the Raku process itself, produces chromatic surprises which makes each clock unique. You will definitely walk away with a new view of time.
Sally creates fluid and intriguing shapes by pouring acrylic paints onto canvases. These even appear fashioned into earrings and pendants for really different and truly fun wearables. Her exhibit also includes charming miniature paintings of dogs and cats. Her photography includes images of balloons, landscapes and flowers with even some mirrored images to tease the eye.
