A collaborative photography project from Natalie Christensen and Jim Eyre that positions Albuquerque as the physical location to engage a global audience, comprised of 3 parts: gallery exhibition, site-specific exterior mural and digital display via a website and Instagram feed. Runs through 10/11.

'alteredstates/alteredscapes' is a three-pronged, collaborative photography project from Natalie Christensen (Santa Fe, NM) and Jim Eyre (London, UK) that positions Albuquerque as the physical location to engage a global audience, using Instagram to explore and distribute the project's ideas. The project is comprised of three parts: gallery exhibition, site-specific exterior mural, and digital display via a website and Instagram feed. Referencing a 1980's horror film in which the main character gets lost in visual dreamscapes via sensory deprivation experiments, 'alteredstates/alteredscapes' aims to make visible the psychological impact of sharing and viewing art on social media.

Santa Fe's Natalie Christensen and London's Jim Eyre collaborated on a three-tiered exhibition opening soon a the UNM School of Architecture and Planning (2401 Central Ave. NE). Designed around photography but utilizing multiple platforms—gallery space, Instagram feeds, an outdoor mural and a website—the two aim to recreate dreamlike experiences a la an '80s horror flick wherein the main character becomes lost in dreams after a series of sensory deprivation experiments. To that end, the artists explore the psychological impact of the imagery we are constantly inundated with in social media feeds. Check out alteredstates/alteredscapes' opening reception on Friday, Sept. 14 from 5:30 to 7pm at George Pearl Hall.
