Arghavan Concert
Big Oud

This year, we've seen a lot of beautiful, culturally diverse music pass through this desert town. September is no exception. Keller Hall at UNM brings us the Arghavan Concert with musicians Mojgan Shajarian and the NuAeen Ensemble, performing Persian classical music for the first time in Albuquerque. The string-heavy melodies include the droning of the oud, light and meditative hand-drumming and ethereal vocals that take us on a journey through the hardships of forced emigration and the sentimental roots torn away, but never forgotten. Go on the odyssey of sounds unheard by most ears on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 7:30 to 9:30pm for a ticket price of $35. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)
