Through a series of lectures, activities and discussions, participants leave with a toolkit on how to navigate and lead these conversations and how to adopt equitable practices in their space.

The new students we will encounter and the employees we will be looking to hire all have one thing in common.  They are coming from a diverse background.  If we are going to succeed as leaders, and professionals, we need the tools to support and retain these individuals.  Using Val's hit book, The Only Black Girl in the Room as the basis of the curriculum, Val creates a safe space to learn how to talk about difficult topics like race, implicit bias, sexism, and gender identity.  Through a series of lectures, activities, and discussions, participants will leave with a toolkit on how to navigate these conversations, how to lead these discussions and how to adopt equitable practices in their space.  We've all been caught off guard when certain comments are made.  When do we say something?  When can we say something?  And more importantly, when we speak, how can we ensure we are heard?
