Ruth Caudeli’s debut EVA + CANDELA is a thoughtful and beautifully orchestrated exploration of a couple striving to build an unconventional relationship free of the inevitable pains of transformation, longing, and dissatisfaction. Eva (Silvia Varón) is a passionate and ambitious actress who meets the equally strong willed Candela (Alejandra Lara) on a film set. The two are drawn together by their shared professional ambitions, magnetic chemistry, and desire to build a relationship impenetrable to the effects of the outside world and the monotony they look down on in ‘conventional’ couples.

Yet it is these very same qualities that test the strength of their bond, as the pair cycles through phases of infatuation, lust, tenderness, and ultimately the dreaded comfort of routine. In EVA + CANDELA Caudeli delicately and intensely explores the effects of time on relationships, questioning whether or not routine and the everyday is really the enemy of passion.
