Curiouser and Curiouser
The Keshet Center for the Arts has always been a community leader when it comes inclusiveness and innovation in the local and statewide dance scene. Artistic director Shira Greenburg retired the much loved Nutcracker on the Rocks in 2016 and is back with a new show and another year of storytelling through self-introspection with Alice, an Adventure of Wonder and Wondering. As with all of Keshet's heart-filled performances, the show features dancers both professional and community-based from ages 8 to 80 of all abilities. Loosely based on Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and loaded with the classic rock and jazz selections we've come to expect from the art sanctuary of Keshet, there are plenty of showings, including two sensory-friendly performances. Shows are Fridays, Nov. 9 and 16 at 7pm, Saturdays, Nov. 10 and 17 at 2pm and 7pm, Sundays, Nov. 11 and 18 at 2pm and 4:30pm, and a special performance on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7pm. Prices include children 5 and under for $12.50, student, senior and military tickets are $25 and general admission for $30. Celebrate the arts for another joyous year with Keshet. Alice draws inspiration from the classic story and characters, but this interpretation is only loosely based on Lewis Carroll’s work, and instead we experience this through a lens of new possibilities.
Join Keshet Dance and Center for the Arts for Alice, our most exciting show of the year! This show includes a cast of 135 professional and community dancers aged 8 – 80, conceived and choreographed by Keshet’s Founder and Artistic Director, Shira Greenberg. “Keshet’s Alice draws inspiration from the Alice in Wonderland story and characters, but our interpretation is only loosely based on Lewis Carroll’s work, and instead we experience Alice through a Keshet lens of self-discovery and new possibilities, embodying and embracing Keshet’s mission of unlimited possibilities” Greenburg said.
