Join in a new tradition at the second annual La Familia Growers Market Harvest Festival. Celebrate tradition and culture in the South Valley this Friday, Oct. 12, with music, poetry performances and historical walking tours. Knowledge-seekers of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on workshops that teach how to make ristras, atole, parched corn and chile powder. This free community gathering at the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park runs from 4:30 to 7:30pm.

Join us in the heart of the South Valley for the 2nd Annual La Familia Growers Market Harvest Festival at the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park. Enjoy an early evening of culture, tradition, agriculture, art, free children's facepainting, and children's playground. There will be free New Mexico tradition workshops: learn how to make a chile ristra, atole, chile powder, and parched corn. 

Music by Rio Grande Express and Mezcla Latina. Poetry from the South Valley by Marcial Delgado, Burque's 2017 Grand Slam Poet. Special dance by the Acoma Pueblo Enchantment Dancers. Historic walking tours of the park where participants will learn about the history of the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park, agriculture, El Camino Real, and walk along an acequia.
