Artist Denise Weaver Ross opens a one-person show—“64 Hexagrams”—on October 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tortuga Gallery in Albuquerque. The artist has been inspired by the 64 hexagrams from the 2,000-year-old Chinese divination method known as I Ching. These hexagrams combine trigrams related to heaven, earth, thunder, water, mountain, wind, and fire. Weaver Ross has created over 100 paintings by overlaying the traditional yin- and yang-based hexagram with images from personal, political, scientific, and cultural sources.
