Indigenous Peoples' Day

Piss Off, Columbus!

Remember when we used to celebrate that asshat of a conquistador, Christopher Columbus? Well, that day has been returned to the indigenous people of this country. That's something to celebrate! Now called Indigenous Peoples' Day, this is the 4th year for the observance on Monday, Oct. 8. Take a moment to join in the morning prayer and stay for the live Native art demos, traditional Native dances and more. A solemn prayer starts the day at 9:30am and the joyous festivites continue until 4pm. Enjoy one of the delectable restaurants on-site at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Pueblo Harvest or Laguna Burger. Take time out of the day to revel in what this country truly represents while also supporting the indigenous people of New Mexico. The event is free for museum members and costs from $6 to $9 for non-members. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)
