Noche de Animas. Tzintzuntzan. La película documenta la Fiesta de los Fieles Difuntos en la comunidad p´urhépecha de Tzintzuntzan en el estado de Michoacán, México. El filme investiga cómo este ritual agrícola que celebra a los difuntos –los preparativos para la celebración, los altares y el compartir con los difuntos- fortalece los lazos familiares y de compadrazgo; una red de relaciones que se extiende por toda la comunidad. En la celebración de Noche de Animas, la familia y la comunidad se regeneran en un ritual de unidad cultural que al compartir la abundancia de la cosecha provoca un sentir de pertenencia y bienestar.

Noche de Animas. Tzintzuntzan. The film depicts the Feast of the Faithfully Departed in the P´urépecha community of Tzintzuntzan in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. The documentary investigates how this agricultural ritual to celebrate the dead – the preparations for the celebration, the altars, and the sharing with the dead- strengthens ties of family and spiritual kinship, a network of relationships that extends throughout the community. In the celebration of Noche de Animas, family and community are regenerated in a ritual of cultural unity that features the generous sharing of abundance, evoking a feeling of belonging and well-being.
