Josh Rysanek leads the workshop as a part of his independent study project. Explore how poetry affects and reflects the community through place names.

In this free workshop, led by UNM student Josh Rysanek as a part of his independent study project, we'll explore how poetry affects and reflects our community through place names. We'll discuss what place names are, how we use them, and how they can be used to tell a story. By analyzing place names we use in our lives and writing poems inspired by them, we'll challenge our perceptions of how we relate to where we live.
