Enjoy the 37th year of arts vendors displaying various styles and creations. Food and drinks are available.
The best art shows in New Mexico stand the test of time, some fall by the wayside and some continue to thrive. For 37 years, people in Placitas, Albuquerque and Santa Fe have been faithful patrons of the Placitas Holiday Sale and looked forward each year to see which of their favorite artists have returned and who is new to the show.
This local tradition has continued every year since 1982 on the weekend before Thanksgiving, when the Placitas Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Sale has welcomed the public to Placitas to discover the amazing art brought to the show by its artists. This year it will be Saturday, November 17 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, November 18 from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.
More than eighty artists, painters, printmakers, ceramic and glass artists, woodworkers, silk painters, photographers, gourd artists, jewelers, metal artists will bring their own special artwork to offer at the show. Handmade clothing, leather goods, painted drums, hand-carved furniture, and much more art will be on display at the three central locations. Site #1, Anasazi Fields; Site #2, The Big Tent, next to the Presbyterian Church and Site #3 the Placitas Elementary School.
The Placitas Holiday Sale is spotlighting metal sculptor Terry Adams from Cuba, New Mexico as the 2018 featured artist of the show. Adams designs and creates home decor and sculptures with a distinct primitive aesthetic. His inspiration is a cross between Celestial Skies and Stonehenge. Adams will be exhibiting his work at Site #1, Anasazi Fields.
Food and drinks will be available at each of the sites. At Site #1, StuffedLust Sopapilla Co will be serving their authentic New Mexican style stuffed sopapillas with a twist of interesting ingredients. At the Big Tent, Site #2, The Chile Pepper Café operated by the Presbyterian Church kitchen will be open next door and they will be cooking a variety of homemade foods. Site #3, at the Placitas Elementary School will have La Casita from Bernalillo serving their traditional New Mexican dishes. New this year, Kaktus Brewery from Bernalillo will be offering glasses of their unique home brewed blends of beer and wine to the public.
