Nature in Winter Festival

Brrrds and Bees

Albuquerque is one of those rare and lucky cities woven through with rich ropes of nature, from the 200 miles of hiking trails in the Sandias to the 16-mile Paseo del Bosque bike trail along the Rio Grande river. Much use is made of these amenities during the warmer months, but our relatively mild winter should not stop anyone from enjoying the vast diversity of nature to be found in the city all year long. Toward that end, Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center has put together a fun and free event, open to all ages, called Nature in Winter Festival. The festival takes place at the Rio Grande Nature Center on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 8:30am to 4pm, and offers guided walks in the forest, storytelling for children, speakers, live bird presentations and crafts. For more information, please visit the event listing on the Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center's Facebook page. (Alisa Valdes)
