So, you don’t like the way men are managing the world? Playwright Drue Robinson has an idea that might help. Withhold sex. Just, like, stop fucking the bastards. Tell them that unless and until they get their shit together, it will be no nookie for them. This is the premise behind Robinson’s play Lysistrata: A Woman’s Perspective, opening at Vortex Theatre Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:30pm and runs through Sunday, March 3. An adaptation of the original play by Aristophanes, Robinson’s version tells the story of the conflict between Sparta and Athens from the point of view of the wife of one of the military leaders, with insightful comedic results. It is not hyperbole to call this a work of genius, as Robinson is literally a Mensa Scholar in creative writing. (Alisa Valdes)

Lysistrata, A Woman’s Perspective, by Drue Robinson adampted from the play by Aristophanes centers on the Peloponnesian War with Athens versus Sparta. Lysistrata, wife of one of the military leaders decides that the women of Athens and Sparta should withhold conjugal relations until the men agree to come to the negotiations table, with hilarious repercussions. The story of women standing up to powerful men for what they believe in and taking control of a situation that is simply unacceptable.
