So maybe you didn’t get the chocolates you were hoping for on Valentine’s Day. That’s totally OK, because there are other days dedicated to chocolate during the year, and this Saturday, March 9, is one of them. This is when the Chocolate Fantasy 2019 gala hits Hotel Albuquerque for a night of the swankiest, tastiest elbow-rubbing the city will see for a while. This fundraiser event for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation features intricate chocolate sculptures and tasting from the finest chefs and chocolatiers in New Mexico, as well as dinner, dancing and both a silent and a live auction. The theme this year is Arabian Nights, meaning you can expect a delicious Mediterranean menu for dinner. The event goes from 6pm to midnight, and reservations are required. Tickets are $200 per person. Contact Sherri Wells at 841-2828 or swells@naturalhistoryfoundation.org to purchase your tickets. (Robin Babb)

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation will be celebrating its 27th Annual Chocolate Fantasy gala with a unique trip to the beautiful land of the Arabian Nights – right in the heart of Albuquerque. Arabian Night Chocolate Fantasy: A Chocolate Delight will take place on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at the Hotel Albuquerque, from 6 p.m. until midnight.

Presented by KPMG LLP, this premier black-tie event will showcase intricate chocolate sculptures from New Mexico’s finest chefs and feature chocolatiers from around the state competing for coveted awards, as well as offer samples of the richest chocolates for guests to enjoy. In addition, this year’s Chocolate Fantasy Gala will offer guests a delicious Mediterranean-inspired menu, a vibrant Moroccan-themed bazaar displaying an array of auction items, a vacation drawing for an exotic Dubai getaway – as well as feature a robust silent auction with a wide selection of exciting experiences and special items available for bidding.

One of the cornerstone activities to support the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, the Chocolate Fantasy gala brings together hundreds of community leaders at this premier fundraising event benefiting the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation.

Each year, the Chocolate Fantasy event offers an unrivaled atmosphere and fine dining experience maintaining Chocolate Fantasy’s reputation as the premier gala event in New Mexico. This year’s 27th annual gala is co-chaired by Michael and Jeanette Mertz.

This year, once again a record number of chocolatiers from across New Mexico will be part of this unique event -- designing chocolate sculptures based on the event theme and providing mouth-watering samples for attendees. Also inspired by the exotic Arabian Night theme, the fundraising event will include a grand dinner amid imaginative, bright Bohemian style tents and seating areas – with the Mediterranean-inspired menu including favorites such as Honey Roasted Eggplant Skewers, Lamb and Shallot Kabobs, River Salmon, Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Labneh and Tabbouleh – in addition to a wide assortment of fine chocolates and other desserts. The event will also feature live music, entertainment, and dancing. Guests are encouraged to join the bidding frenzy at an enormous silent auction and live auction, purchase tickets to win a vacation package, enjoy sparkling champagne, and, of course, taste amazing chocolate from New Mexico’s finest chocolatiers.

Tickets to this year’s Arabian Night Chocolate Fantasy: A Chocolate Delight are $200 per person. Reserved tables for 10 people are $2,500. Half tables for six are $1,500.
