The pianist and composer plays works by Scarlatti, Schubert and Beethoven in combination with modern pieces, including his own compositions.
Pianist and composer Grisha Krivchenia will be playing works by Scarlatti, Schubert, and Beethoven in combination with more modern pieces, including one by National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, composer and pianist Carla Bley, and his own compositions.
One piece of his own that he will perform is “Farewell Song,” written for a young man who died from a drug overdose. Starting out somberly, the composition moves forward in an uplifting journey through the grieving process.
As one of the hallmarks of his solo concert style, Krivchenia will guide the audience through the accessible classical and modern works, sharing comments about historical context, musical structure, and what to listen for in order to help listeners more deeply engage in the musical experience.
First Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall (enter from parking lot corner of Copper & Elm Streets, use southwest building doors).
