The unique photographic works of internationally renowned Albuquerque artist Karl P. Koenig is on display with light refreshments.
The Albuquerque Photographers’ Gallery has been honored to present the unique photographic works of internationally renowned Albuquerque artist Karl P. Koenig since 2012. The Gallery will be celebrating Karl with a retrospective reception, “An Evening for Karl”, on March 2, 2019, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Gallery in Old Town, 303 Romero St. NW, upstairs in Suite N208.
The Gallery will be displaying the amazing scope of Karl’s work, including images that have not been on display at the Gallery. Karl’s widow, Frances, will be present and will discuss his work during the reception.
Karl's photographs graced the covers of more photo magazines than any living photographer. He invented the gumoil printing process in 1990 and his resulting prints, each of which took days or weeks to make, are magical and breathtaking.
In addition, the Gallery will be showing many of Karl’s richly detailed photogravures. Those images span the breadth of Karl's interests—trees, winter farms, New Mexico scenes, architectural details, odd (often overlooked) conjunctions and an occasional quirky view of the world.
For a number of the prints which will be on display at the reception, the Gallery has obtained the original photograph from which the print was made, and the photograph will accompany a purchase of the print, making a unique set.
Light refreshments will be served at the reception.
