Rufina Taproom presents:
Jessie Deluxe / Ghost Foot / Universe Contest / Cole Bee Wilson
Monday, April 1st // 8pm // All Ages // No Cover
Jessie Deluxe describes her sound as heavy, melodic rock. Her songwriting is dynamic and powerful featuring choruses that, “lift you high in the air and then smash you back down to the ground.” This is in your face rock n’ roll that conjures up the grittiness of P.J. Harvey and the sex appeal of Elvis, all the while adding her own unique edge.
This fiery front woman packs an authoritative punch live with her amazing voice. As she shreds on her Flying V, she commands the audience with the conviction of a rock icon. Joining her on the stage is Diego Velazquez (Disaster Man) and Philip Maddux (Octaveleven, Frenetic Forces).
As for her background, Jessie has garnered the attention of various producers such as David Rowntree (Blur), Dave Jerden ( Janes Addiction, Poe) and Geza X (Sonic Youth). Her influences range from, Hendrix, David Bowie, Annie Lennox, to NIN.
Ghost Foot is a two piece rock n roll band from Shreveport, LA in the style of down-and-dirty, do-it-for-the-hell-of-it, old school garage band punk. With Jacob Disedare on guitar/vocals and Dacoda Montana on drums/vocal, the songwriting has a good amount of folk like sensibility with fuzzed out rock n roll. Their newest release is an E.P. titled Devils which is available on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud.
"Lincoln’s Universe Contest is a spastic indie rock band that has been threatening to break out into a full-scale indie music phenomenon for the last year. The question is more when will it happen rather than if it will. The band perfects theatricality in their live sets, while still delivering melodic precision. Modest Mouse is the usual comparison thrown Universe Contest’s way but there’s elements of the last decade’s best, messy indie pop acts in here. If you’re already inclined to liking acts like Tapes N Tapes or the Dismemberment Plan, you’ll find lots to like in Universe Contest." - Tim McMahan, Omaha Reader
