Nathan Schroeder talk on “Restoration along the Rio Grande through the Pueblo of Santa Ana: the Natural and Unnatural Journey to the Present.”
Tamaya is the site of what might be one of the greatest and still ongoing cultural/ecological catastrophes of the late twentieth century.
When the Rio Jemez was dammed near its confluence with the Rio Grande just north of Albuquerque in 1953, both the bosque and pueblo were forever altered, and radically so.
And things only got more complex when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rapidly drew down the reservoir in October 2001.
Nathan Schroeder, Restoration Division Manager at Tamaya, has been working to secure funds and develop restoration projects within the Rio Grande and Rio Jemez waterway for the long-term sustainability and ecological functionality of the bosque ecosystem since 2007.
Come to Nathan's talk, “Restoration along the Rio Grande through the Pueblo of Santa Ana: the Natural and Unnatural Journey to the Present,” and learn about what has happened and what has been and still can be done at Tamaya and in advance of Nathan's tour of the bosque itself later this month on Saturday, April 27.
