Ever wonder what it takes to work in the film industry? IATSE Local 480 is the union representing professional film technicians working “below the line” on TV and movie productions in the state of New Mexico. Below-the-line talent includes lighting and sound technicians, grips, set painters, stagehands, prop manufacturers and more (including those set medics mentioned above). IATSE 480, in conjunction with the State Film Office, hosts a free Educational Speaker workshop on Wednesday, March 27 from noon to 1pm at the Joseph Montoya Building’s Bid Room in Santa Fe (1100 S. St. Francis Dr.). Local 480 President Liz Pecos will be talking about the various ways to get into the union and the various trades they represent. She’ll also answer any questions you have about the film and TV industry. Admission is free but seating is limited. To ensure your space, register in advance at bit.ly/2FcFyGK.
