Dana Patterson Roth is the featured artist at Wild Hearts Gallery with her exhibition running from March 26 through April 21. The public is invited to the artist’s reception on Friday, April 5 from 4-7 pm.  Light refreshments will be served. Wild Hearts Gallery is located in Placitas, at the Homestead Village, 221-B State Highway 165, 2 ½ miles from I-25.

The images in this series, “Through the Grass and Beyond” are printed on wood, allowing the grain of the wood to interact visually with the nature based photography.  Many of the images are then grouped together, ‘floated’ on a background and framed; creating a three-dimensional shadowbox of botanical imagery, wood grain and ambient light.

“I have long been mesmerized by the grasses, watching them sway in the breeze, and I love to capture these moments of beauty and grace.”

Born and raised in New Mexico, Roth studied photography and painting at UNM, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and other venues.  She has been a photographer for 40 years, initially specializing in black and white portraiture.  In recent years, she has focused on landscape and botanical photography. She enjoys pushing beyond traditional photography by experimenting with the new processes and various media now available for creating and printing photographs, allowing her to add more visual depth and interest.
