Artist Angela Berkson presents her latest series of acrylic paintings on canvas and paper that investigate abstract imagery and universal symbols in a dark yet glowing palette. The title Sum of All references color theory and that the color black is the sum of all colors. The exhibition runs from May 10 thru June 8, 2019, and there will be a reception for the artist on Friday, May 10 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Free. Gallery hours: Thur-Fri-Sat from 10-4.

Depth, achieved through laying, often renders a visually darker surface, but as Angela Berkson says about her new paintings, “The resulting paintings may seem dark but look more closely. The underlayment of metallic pigment helps to light the paintings from within, making the darkness even darker in a way. All that glitters is not gold; the surface does not represent the truth.” So, as we wind on down the road, Exhibit/208 (208 Broadway Blvd. NW) will host an open reception for Sum of All, 20 paintings on the theme by Angela Berkson on Friday, May 10 from 5pm to 8pm.
