Michael Godey opens for Robyn Mackenzie!
Edgewood, May 2, 2019 – Please join the Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse as we welcome unique and original songs of the one and only Robyn Mackenzie on Saturday, May 11th. Opening is Michael Godey, an Americana songwriter from Tajique.
Robyn Mackenzie is a Santa Fe Singer/Songwriter (formerly from Edgewood) whose style can only be described as eclectic. Her music ranges from introspective indie ballads to electronic anthems to irreverent ukulele jingles. Robyn’s voice and style are reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega, and Debbie Harry, with the occasional nod to Flight of the Conchords. Fan reviews range from "Authentic, haunting and beautiful" to "uh......that was....um...different."
Robyn’s music career started with violin lessons at age 4. She loved to make up parodies of popular songs, and by the time she was a teenager, she started writing her own songs. Over the years she added piano, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele to her repertoire and played with the popular local country band Southwest Wind from 2008 -2012. She has opened for Posi icons Daniel Nahmod and Jason and DeMarco, and she performed her song, “Love, Love, Love” at the first Coffee Party Convention in 2010. Currently, she plays mainly solo shows, with the exception of the occasional folk-comedy duo The Philanthropic Cannibals with Elliott Ruff-Wagner (her dad). Her latest EP, Fluorescent, features layers of vocal harmonies, electronic music and acoustic instruments and can be purchase through robynmackenzie1.bandcamp.com. Upcoming plans include releasing an album of new electronic pop, as well as a compilation of more comedy-oriented songs.
Opening for Robyn Mackenzie is Michael Godey,a singer/songwriter from the East Mountains. Michael Godey is song writer, musician, writer, and visual artist who performs in the East Mountain area as well as in Santa Fe at the gallery that represents his work, Eye on the Mountain Gallery.
