In Microscale: 9th Annual Miniature Show
Runs through 06/30/2019.
Fine art in miniature will be showcased on Saturday, May 25, from four until eight p.m. at Metallo Gallery in Madrid, New Mexico. In Microscale features collected artists such as Lori Swartz and Kim Jackson, as well as emerging talents including Mandy Stapleford and Lisbeth Cort. Now in its ninth year, this all-original show will peek through the keyhole into a world of miniscule art in a wild variety of media, from precisely detailed tiny oil paintings to diabolically teensy hand-tooled copper sculptures.
In Microscale is the result of an open call which challenged artists to create vigorous works within minute confines. Operating in miniature, the artists have distilled their visions into potent, concentrated beauty. The project is a personal passion of gallery owner Cassidy Watt, who will be contributing several pieces to the show.
The opening is at Metallo Gallery, 2833 Highway 14, with a reception enlivened by the live music of C.W. Ayon Duo. While specializing in metal sculpture and jewelry, Metallo gallery is notable for its range of tones, textures and tenor. The gallery space – refreshingly modern, yet rustic and genuine – brings cohesion to otherwise diverse expressions by contemporary artists, such as the fanciful characters of Michael Copeland and haunting portraits by Melissa Morgan.
