Donations to the New Mexico Spotlight Foundation provide vocational training and support services to locals in the film industry. From the actors on camera to the hundreds of technical jobs behind the scenes, local talent can, and should, fill the bill. New Mexico has become a prime destination for filmmaking, bringing thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars into the state. To remain a draw and to ensure even more jobs for locals, our residents need the tools and training to compete on a global scale. The vast majority of our state’s population cannot afford any type of training in this, or any field. The New Mexico Spotlight Foundation is a new nonprofit that is actively training local actors and putting resident filmmakers to work. The New Mexico Spotlight Foundation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established for the purpose of raising funds for the professional advancement of New Mexico performers and filmmakers. Training The New Mexico Spotlight Foundation provides scholarships to thoroughly vetted industry classes and workshops, as well tuition to accredited film programs for local talent. Title sponsorship and scholarship naming opportunities are available to local businesses and individuals who wish to partner with NMSF in training and educating New Mexico talent. Financial Support NMSF is continually raising funds to provide filmmakers with finances to cover spot expenses. Production budgets often, if not always, fall short. While volunteer production assistance is vital to building the local film community from within, service providers, talent and crew deserve fair and competitive compensation whenever possible. NMSF aims to provide financial aid to qualified productions which are striving to draw experienced resources to complete their production roster. Film Festival Submission Grant This NMSF grant provides funds for filmmakers to submit to and attend film festivals across the country. New Mexico film teams continually churn out ever advanced works that are eagerly accepted and showcased at festival screenings all over the nation and around the world. The NMSF Film Festival Fund helps spotlight the best the state has to offer to a global audience. Fiscal Sponsorship Financing a media project is often the most challenging part of the otherwise creative process. NMSF is working with local filmmakers to serve as Fiscal Sponsor for select film and media projects. Attaining NMSF as a fiscal agent empowers film teams to pitch potential investors with the added incentive of providing a tax benefit for their backing.
