2019 Santa Fe Studio Tour
Celebrates 13 Years, New Programs
June 14-16 (preview gallery weekend)
Studios open: June 22-23, 29-30
Santa Fe, NM—Now in its 13thyear, the Santa Fe Studio Touroriginally began as a grass roots effort where 25 local Santa Fe artists opened their studios to support and grow the exposure of studio artists in Santa Fe and give the public a glimpse of how artwork was created.
Preview Gallery Weekend/Tour Dates
The Tour grew from that grass roots effort to the current annual event. The Santa Fe Studio Arts Collective, a non-profit corporation, now sponsors the Tour but still operates solely with the help of numerous artist volunteers. This year there are 75 artistsand 58 studios. The Opening Reception will be held at the Santa Fe Woman’s Club, 1616 Old Pecos Trail, on Friday, June 14 from 5-8 pm. The Preview Gallery will remain open on Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, from 11am-4pm. The opening and preview gallery give the public a chance to see examples of the types of artwork that will be featured at the artists’ studios when they open their doors on June 22-23 and June 29-30 from 10am-5pm.
The diversity of creative art includes paintings, sculpture, jewelry, mixed media, fabric art, and even knives and metalworking. See information about each participating artist and a detailed Tour planning guide atwww.santafestudiotour.com. Brochures will be available on-line and at public locations throughout Santa Fe starting in late May.
The Santa Fe Studio Tour will be featured in a video premiering as part of the Santa Fe Network TV video series starting on June 8, 2019. The video, directed by Lee Zlotoff, is part of a Santa Fe TOURISMprogram to promote arts in Santa Fe. See https://santafenetwork.tv/
The Santa Fe Studio Arts Collective tries to continually grow its mission to support local member artists by promoting and sharing their art as a valuable asset for sale through educational, social, and cultural engagement. The Collective believes the studio artist’s creation of art is an important and indispensable part of the life and the economy of the City and County of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
New! Santa Fe Studio Experience 365
This year, the Collective starts two new programs. The Santa Fe Studio Experience (SFSE) 365 website allows the public to find Santa Fe artists who open their studio throughout the yearduring specific scheduled dates and times. This new program allows visitors and locals to create their own Studio Tour based on their own schedule. See www.sfse365.com. SFSE 365 will be featured in a video showing as part of the Santa Fe Network TV video series starting on July 1, 2019. The video directed by Lee Zlotoff is part of a Santa Fe TOURISMprogram to promote arts in Santa Fe. See https://santafenetwork.tv/
New! Erica Elliott Art Fund
A second new program is the Erica Elliott Art Fund (EEAF). Erica Elliott was a long-time member of the Santa Fe Studio Tour and one of the founders of the Santa Fe Studio Arts Collective. Erica once received monetary support to buy paints that changed her art. The Tour lost Erica to cancer in December 2017. Therefore, the EEAF will provide emerging Santa Fe artists, who may otherwise not have the means to promote their art, with mentorship, a chance to participate in the Santa Fe Studio Tour under a registration fee scholarship, and even with monetary support, as available. Donations to the EEAF can be made through www.santafestudiotour.com/donations.
