Iconic and worldly jazz musicians play live.

Born in Louisiana and raised in New Mexico, tenor saxophonist Doug Lawrence spent over 25 years making a name for himself in New York City, performing and recording with iconic artists Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson, Buck Clayton, Dizzy Gillespie, Wild Bill Davis, Benny Goodman, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and many others. A current resident of Albuquerque (where he grew up), he has, for the last 20+ years, been the featured tenor saxophone soloist with the 18-time Grammy winning Count Basie Orchestra with whom he is on the road much of the year. When not playing with the Basie Band, one of his favorite projects is the B3 Organ Trio or Quartet—formats which have played a central role in his career. He has collaborated with Chicago based organist- keyboardist Dan Trudell since 2000. Trudell, now considered one of the best B3 organists on the scene, is often compared to organists “Wild Bill” Davis, Larry Young, Jack McDuff, and Dr. Lonnie Smith (all of whom Doug Lawrence has worked with), and he has performed on piano/organ with everyone from Aretha Franklin, Ron Carter, and Kurt Elling, to Joe Magnorelli, Joe Williams, and Jimmy Heath. Joining Lawrence and Trudell for this concert will be renowned bassist John Webber–who is also an accomplished guitarist and will be playing guitar for this concert; and Yuriana Sobrino Garcia, drums.
