Josephine Toya sets up on the patio, weather permitting, and demonstrates the technique of traditional, hand-shaped pottery before your eyes.

Join Josephine Toya as she transforms clay into a beautiful formed bowls and jars or into her specialty, Corn Maidens. Josephine learned the proud tradition of pottery making from her mother, Dolores. Josephine’s process and techniques are like her mother’s but Josephine has specialized in unique creations called Corn Maidens, the young and beautiful mythological figure believed to be the creator of corn.

Josephine will set up on the visitor center patio, weather permitting, and will demonstrate the technique of traditional, hand-shaped pottery before your eyes. 

 This demonstration is open to the public and free to attend. This demonstration is possible by support from Western National Parks Association (WNPA).
