Anyone who has sent a dirty text message has done some erotic writing. Here in this workshop, we'll talk about some of the craft of it, what makes an amazing erotic story, letter, or text, and read some examples of exquisite scenes. We'll do some writing, too — there will be prompts to inspire you to try out the things we're discussing. Incorporating the AWA method, we discuss what stays with us and what works in the writing, encouraging the brilliance to rise to the top. Any sharing of writing is completely optional.

Accessibility info: Self Serve's entrance & bathroom are accessible. Please refrain from wearing heavily scented products. Email info@selfservetoys.com if you would like an ASL interpreter and we can try to arrange it.

Sinclair Sexsmith (they/them) is "the best-known butch erotica writer whose kinky, groundbreaking stories have turned on countless queer women" (AfterEllen), who "is in all the books, wins all the awards, speaks at all the panels and readings, knows all the stuff, and writes for all the places" (Autostraddle). They have written the award-winning sex blog Sugarbutch.net since 2006. Their short story collection, Sweet & Rough: Queer Kink Erotica, was a 2016 finalist for the Lambda Literary Award, and they are the editor of three erotica anthologies, Say Please: Lesbian BDSM Erotica, Best Lesbian Erotica 2012, and Best Lesbian Erotica Volume 4 (forthcoming 2020), as well as the experimental erotic journal Erotix. They identify as a white non-binary butch dominant, a survivor, and an introvert. Follow all their writings at patreon.com/mrsexsmith.
