Caregiving: The Heart of The Journey

8th annual family caregiver conference offers practical education from legal, medical, Medicaid, Medicare and dementia experts. Registration required.

Hosted by the City of Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Area Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association New Mexico Chapter on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Sandia Resort and Casino. Elder law, medication, hospice and palliative care, nutrition, dementia treatments, practical techniques for dementia caregivers, healthy aging, fall prevention and care management will be among the topics addressed in this day-long conference, which also includes a free sit-down lunch. Free, in-home respite is also available to a limited number of participants. Participants must pre-register, and check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with the conference concluding at 4 p.m. Participants can register by calling the Alzheimer’s Association at 1-800-272-3900. Conference is presented by United Healthcare and aims to alleviate caregiver stress by addressing a host of questions and concerns in a single day.
