Learn to look at living plant models in their environments and capture various drawing techniques pulled from live model and gesture drawing practices. Bring your own supplies.
Working in the outdoor space behind the Dandelion Guild shop or from live plants in the workshop space, this is a drawing class which marries the soft gesture of the botanical still life with the focused clarity of the plant ID illustration.
Paying special attention to light and shadow, line and form, we will learn how to really look at our living plant models in their specific environment in order to capture our plants using various drawing techniques pulled from live model and gesture drawing practices.
We will do a little movement to take the pose of the plant, drink local herbal tea blends, discuss botanical terminology and medicinal attributes whilst observing, learning from, and engaging with the plants in their dynamic gestures.
BYO drawing supplies, buy a pack for $5, or borrow from the communal stash, starring vine charcoal, graphite, and kneaded and vinyl erasers (this also comprises the art supply pack). Good paper and botanical reference zine will be provided.
$40 to attend and borrow/BYO supplies
~or~ $45 including art supply pack.
