Shop at the Pet Plaza and enjoy other activities. Benefits Animal Humane’s 20 programs including animal adoption, spay/neuter resources and a free pet behavior helpline.

Proceeds also provide funds for Animal Humane’s donor-subsidized veterinary clinic for low-income pet owners.“You’ll see dogs in every shape, size and breed—but mostly, it’s a way to celebrate the special relationship that we have with our dogs,” Executive Director Peggy Weigle said. “Doggie Dash is our largest fundraiser and most popular event of the year. So popular, in fact, we have to close our adoption locations so all of our staff and volunteers can participate.”Doggie Dash is designed to please all ages of humans and dogs. The half day event includes three main features:

1. Exercise! Choose from a 5K Dash which is designed for both humans only and for canines and their human companions. Or, if a leisurely walk with a favorite canine is more your speed, sign up for the 2 mile Dawdle. Both the Dash and Dawdle feature spectacular views of Albuquerque’s unique landscape and offer a special time for you and your beloved dog.

2. Shopping! Visit Pet Plaza, a one-stop shopping experience for two-and four-legged friends with more than 50 vendors showcasing their products and services. You’ll also meet local rescue groups and be sure and grab a cup of locally-roasted Satellite Coffee.

3. Fun! So many delightful activities, so little time! If your pup has a healthy amount of energy, make sure to visit Dash Bash, a carnival for dogs. Dash Bash has many activities with exciting games for your dog such as paw print painting, bobbing for hot dogs, photo booths, an off-leash dog park and an agility course. Simply purchase carnival tickets to take part in the fun. Adoptable pets will be on-hand at the event as well from Animal Humane. In addition, Animal Humane’s popular “rent-a-dog” booth is back for those that want to share an enjoyable morning with an adoptable homeless.
