Robert Murphy, Ph.D., a wildlife biologist with Eagle Environmental, shares research findings about migration in the Rockies/Colorado Plateau and survival and causes of mortality in the Great Plains.

Golden Eagle in flight by Joe Schelling

Central New Mexico Audubon Society invites you to hear Robert Murphy tell about his work with golden eagles. Although protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, Golden Eagles are increasingly threatened on multiple fronts, and the scale of several major threats is increasing. Robert Murphy, Ph.D., a wildlife biologist with Eagle Environmental, will be sharing current research findings about dispersal and migration in the southern Rockies/Colorado Plateau and pre-adult survival and causes of mortality in the southern Great Plains. “Murph” worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Division of Migratory Birds for the Southwest Region before transitioning to part-time work on eagle conservation and research.
