(9 miles south of Tijeras on #337 and 1 mile in from Oak Flat sign)
Welcome to our September Oak Flat Public Star Party, last of the summer series! Sunset will be at 7:21pm--but arrive long before that time to park and be oriented to the layout of our event as we will be on the large observing field, and we hope to have some solar observing. TAAS members will be at the scopes to be your sky guides for the evening and to talk with you about the sights you will see. A laser-guided constellation tour is planned as the darkness deepens, and Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon will be there for your eye candy, along with all the deep-sky objects.
Parking will be at the Juniper and Yucca lots (Yucca has the restrooms)--our telescopes will be set up in the observing field in between, accessible through the picnic area at Juniper and by the dirt road a short distance from Yucca, and we will have many red pathway lights to guide your way.
Please bring only red lights for the viewing area to prevent loss of night vision (you can rubber band red cellophane over your regular flashlights and remove to find way back to car). Don't forget a jacket for chill of the evening and water.
