The authors talk about and sign their works, The Orchid Throne: Forgotten Empires Book 1 and Wolf's Search: Firekeeper Saga Book 7.

New Mexico authors Jeffe Kennedy and Jane Lindskold, who have both produced new fantasy novels, join forces 4:00 pm Saturday, October 5, to talk about and sign "The Orchid Throne: Forgotten Empires Book 1" and "Wolf's Search: Firekeeper Saga Book 7," respectively.

Kennedy's latest effort is described as such: "In the Forgotten Empires magic is forbidden, dreams are destiny, and love is the greatest power of all… As Queen of the island kingdom of Calanthe, Lia will do anything to keep her people free―and her secrets safe―from the mad tyrant who rules the mainland. Guided by a magic ring of her father’s, Lia plays the political game with the cronies the emperor sends to her island. In her heart, she knows that it’s up to her to save herself from her fate as the emperor’s bride. But in her dreams, she sees a man, one with the power to build a better world―a man whose spirit is as strong, and whose passion is as fierce as her own… Conrí, former Crown Prince of Oriel, has built an army to overthrow the emperor. But he needs the fabled Abiding Ring to succeed. The ring that Lia holds so dear to her heart. When the two banished rulers meet face to face, neither can deny the flames of rebellion that flicker in their eyes―nor the fires of desire that draw them together. But in this broken world of shattered kingdoms, can they ever really trust each other?"

Lindskold's newest "Firekeeper" book is teased as such: "Blind Seer has run at Firekeeper’s side since the wolf-woman first crossed the Iron Mountains into human-held lands. Now it’s her turn to run alongside the blue-eyed wolf as he sets out in search of someone who can teach him how to use his magical gift—on his own unique terms. The pair’s search will take them to the far side of the world in the company of allies who include a young woman scarred by war, a falcon who believes himself a traitor, and an old friend… or possibly enemy. Together they will fight battles from before they were born, climb mountains, cross badlands, eventually unveiling a threat that will reshape not only Blind Seer, but his belief in what he most desires."

Kennedy is an award-winning author with a writing career that spans decades. Her most recent works include the fantasy trilogy "The Twelve Kingdoms." Book one, "The Mark of the Tala," received a starred Library Journal review and was nominated for the RT Book of the Year while the third book, "The Talon of the Hawk," won the RT Reviewers’ Choice Best Fantasy Romance of 2015. Recently, "The Pages of the Mind," the first of the Imperial Realms books, won a RITA Award for Best Paranormal Romance Book. She also has a story in "Seasons of Sorcery: A Fantasy Anthology." She lives in Santa Fe, with two Maine Coon cats, a border collie, plentiful free-range lizards and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine. Jeffe can be found online every Sunday at the popular Word Whores blog.

Lindskold is the award-winning, bestselling author of more than 20 novels, including the incredibly popular Firekeeper series ("Through Wolf’s Eyes" to "Wolf’s Blood") and the New Mexico-based "Child of a Rainless Year," as well as more than 60 shorter works. Several of her novels have been chosen by VOYA for their Best SF, Fantasy and Horror list. Lindskold's work has been repeatedly praised for its sensitive depiction of worlds and cultures different from our own — especially those that aren't in the least human. She has been a frequent contributor to Weber's "Honorverse," where her tales of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Michael have a loyal and enthusiastic following. Her most recent books were novels "Asphodel" (2018), "Artemis Awakening" and "Artemis Invaded," and short-story collection "Curiosities." She lives in Albuquerque with her husband and several furry creatures.
