A Baroque Christmas
Celebrate the joys of the season from December 19 through 24 with the Pro Musica Baroque Ensemble in the festively decorated Loretto Chapel. The Baroque Christmas concerts open with Telemann’s brilliantly imaginative Burlesque de Don Quixote, followed by Leclair’s introspective Sonata No. 8 for Flute and Viola, and Handel’s sunny Organ Concerto, “The Cuckoo and the Nightingale. ”The centerpiece of the program features soprano soloists onalternate evenings, Clara Rottsolk in Handel’s joyous Gloria, and Dominique Labelle in Antonio Vivaldi’s beguiling In furore iustissimae irae, RV 626. The concert concludes with a set of rare Christmas carols.
