The folk and blues musician plays live.
One of the great musical forces to emerge from the folk, blues and folk-rock scenes in Cambridge, MA and Woodstock, NY, Geoff Muldaur’s magical voice and singular approach to American music make him a true original. Singer-songwriter Richard Thompson wrote, “There are only three white blues singers, and Geoff Muldaur is at least two of them.” Known for a series of highly influential recordings as a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Paul Butterfield’s Better Days group, as well as collaborations with hundreds of famed musicians, he is also an accomplished composer and arranger having composed scores for lm and television, and produced off-beat albums for the likes of Lenny Pickett and the Borneo Horns and the Richard Greene String Quartet. His definitive recording of "Brazil" provided the seed for - and was featured in - Terry Gilliam's lm of the same title. He recently released an album with chamber ensemble entitled, Private Astronomy - (A Vision of the Music of Bix Beiderbecke) on Deutche Grammophon; as well as an album (in tribute to the late guitarist Steve Bruton) with his all-star, Austin-based group, the Texas Sheiks. Muldaur’s Outpost concerts every few years, whether solo or with Jim Kweskin or Fritz Richmond (and hopefully one with Chamber Ensemble soon), are always a special and welcome treat!
