Spend an hour with Carolyn Meyer in her one-woman show filled with frank, sexual humor and the stark, emotional reality of being a woman back in the day.
The Perfect Entertainment for the Balloon Fiesta!
Looking for something to do while waiting for the balloons to ascend? Why not spend an hour with Carolyn Meyer and her one-woman show, “Don’t Call Me Young Lady!"
Carolyn has lived a full life and it resonates with her audience. Like them, she doesn't want to be diminished by the term "young lady." Filled with frank, sexual humor and the stark, emotional reality of being a woman back in the day, "Don't Call Me Young Lady" takes the audience on her journey to becoming herself (and to find a man--at 84--through on-line dating).
Imagine: You are 80 years old. You have published over 60 young adult novels. Three marriages. Four children. Numerous affairs. You have lived a very full life. Why not retire?
Not Carolyn Meyer. Instead, she takes her recent experiences doing improv and stand-up (that’s right, she started those at 80!) and writes a one-woman show about the one thing that drives her crazy: being called "young woman." And it turns out a lot of older women agree with her. A three-performance engagement turns into 18 sold out performances as women come back with their friends and daughters bring their mothers. And then she's accepted into the United Solo Festival in New York City! On October 27th, she will bring her life and her story to NYC.
But you can still see her in Albuquerque. On October 6th, 10th and 13th, she will be performing her show at The Cell Theatre on First Street in downtown ABQ. The performance begins at 4pm and doors open at 3 because this is also a tea. So, come early and enjoy the sherry, tea and tasty sweets, all part of your $20 ticket. You can order tickets at www.forumabq.com.
In short, you will find spending an hour with Carolyn to be unique, special, entertaining and definitely provocative.
