Through the Flower Art Space will host its Flower Friday event on Friday, October 18, 2019, at 6:00 pm The evening will consist of a film screening of the documentary Right Out of History: The Making of Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, and a discussion after the film with Juliet Myers. In 1977 Myers joined a growing team of hundreds of volunteers to work with Judy Chicago on The Dinner Party. Myers served as a researcher, photographer, and facilitator for the Consciousness Raising sessions, which were tantamount to receiving a Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies. The Dinner Party, an icon of twentieth-century art by Judy Chicago, is a symbolic history of women in Western Civilization. Before its permanent housing in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, New York, The Dinner Party toured worldwide where it was viewed by more than a million people. It counts for thirty percent of the visitors to the Brooklyn Museum.
