Veteran folk dancer Patsy Gregory leads traditional Balkan line dances and with a crash course in the basic dances to live music by Goddess of Arno with refreshments available.
Celebrate and dance to the music of the Southwest’s premier 6-piece Balkan dance band ‘Goddess of Arno’. Traditional folk dance tunes and songs from Albania, the former Yugoslavia, Romania, Greece, Turkey & Bulgaria – many in the Rom (Gypsy) style and language -are all in the repertoire of this 2002 NM MIC-AWARD-WINNINGband! Members of Goddess of Arno sing and accompany powerful solo and multi-part vocals with traditional ethnic string and percussion instruments as well as with violins, guitar, & electric bass. Veteran folk dancer Patsy Gregory will lead the traditional Balkan line dances and she’ll give a crash course in the basic dances to live music by Goddess of Arno at 7:15PM. The Party “officially” begins at 7:45PM --AND you can also dance your OWN dance –OR sit, relax and enjoy the music with some snacks and beverages.
The 23rd Fall Balkan Dance Party will take place at Nahalat Shalom, which is located at 3606 Rio Grande Blvd NW (between Candelaria & Griegos), ABQ 87107.
$5.00-$20.00 Admission at the door, kids under 13 get in for FREE!
