The Swingles come to Popejoy Hall as part of the esteemed Popejoy Presents entertainment series on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7:30pm to perform seasonal classics. That's right, lovers of acappella choral music, the UK musical phenomenon, founded by American singer Ward Swingle in the early '60s, continues to make headway as they push boundaries and make big hits, collaborating with notable musicians like the Modern Jazz Quartet and composer Luciano Berio. This tour features robust re-imaginings of songs by John Martyn and Mumford & Sons, among others. With singers Federica Basile, Joanna Goldsmith-Eteson, Imogen Parry, Oliver Griffiths, Jon Smith, Kevin Fox and Edward Randell at the ready you can count on amazing harmonies and lush arrangements cascading lovingingly from the stage.
