Guitarist Leni Stern is at it again. The famous jazz musician returns to New Mexico for a concert at Outpost Performance Space on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7:30pm. Stern mixes audacious and groovy experimental licks with an authentically indigenous sound provided by a band of African instrumentalists and singers in the Leni Stern African Trio, which features Stern on guitar, Jerome Harris on bass and Alioune Faye on percussion. Her acute playing style and knowing groove has garnered many awards. Stern's latest album is the critically acclaimed record 3. Tickets for this all-ages evening of late-autumn, axe-flavored jazz music range in price from $15 to $20. (August March)

A highly respected instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and world traveler,
Leni Stern, who is a regular visitor to New Mexico, is an artist who defies categorization. The winner of five consecutive Gibson Female Jazz Guitarist of the Year awards, her music features her trademark inventive guitar playing and vocal explorations along with the indigenous sounds of accomplished African instrumentalists and singers. Her 2016 release, Dakar Suite was described as “a celebration of sorts, a triumph of a life lived fully that inspires both dancing and quiet thought, and offers many glimpses into the travels that brought her to this point in her musical life.” In 2018, she released a follow-up trio album entitled "3," to wide critical acclaim. Last at Outpost in the fall of 2017, Stern returns with her African trio featuring, Jerome Harris, bass and Alioune Fayeon, percussion.
